Privacy policy

Brah is provided by Crown Student Consultancy (CSC) UK Ltd, trading as Ferrolo (company number 14324057, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration ZC265399), referred to here as “we”, “us” and “our”. Questions about this document go to brah@ferrolo.com.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers the Brah app, this website and emails you send us.

2. The short version

Brah has no account system and no analytics. Brah itself does not collect your data. When you ask a question, Brah sends data to the services that you chose. We do not receive it.

3. What leaves your Mac, and where it goes

When you ask a question, Brah sends a picture of the screen under your cursor, your question and the recent conversation to the AI service you chose. That can be your own Hermes server, Claude through Claude Code, ChatGPT, the Anthropic API, or a server you set, which can run on your own Mac.

Voice depends on your settings. Deepgram is the default voice. With a Deepgram key, Deepgram receives your audio while you talk and Brah’s answers as text. Groq or ElevenLabs receives Brah’s answers as text, only if you pick it. Hearing you uses the speech recognition of your Mac, which is Apple’s. The wake word “Hey Brah” is heard on the Mac, and no audio leaves it until you say it.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy, and decides how long it keeps your data. We do not control them. If you want your data to stay on your Mac, use a local model.

4. What stays on your Mac

Your settings are in a file in your home folder. Your keys, sign-ins, licence key and trial date are in your Keychain. Brah does not save your screenshots or your conversations to disk.

5. Updates

Brah checks for a new version on its own. The request can include the Brah version and your macOS version. It does not include your screen, your voice or your questions. You can turn the check off in Settings.

6. Buying a licence, and emails to us

Payments go through Stripe, which keeps your card details under its own privacy policy. From Stripe we get your email address and whether you paid, and your licence key contains your email address. When you email us, we keep your address and your messages so that we can reply. We do this to provide what you asked for, and we keep these records for as long as we need them for your licence and for our tax and legal duties.

7. Problems and ideas

Report a problem or Suggest a feature, in the Brah menu or on our Support page, opens a public page on GitHub. From the app it fills in your Brah version, your macOS version and the AI you use, and nothing else. What you post there is public, under GitHub’s own privacy policy. For anything private, such as a licence or a refund, email brah@ferrolo.com.

8. This website

This website sets no cookies and counts no visits. Our host, Vercel, records basic request data such as your IP address, to keep the site running and safe. Downloads come from GitHub, under GitHub’s privacy policy.

9. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email brah@ferrolo.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

10. Changes to this policy

We can update this policy. The new version applies when it is published here.
